B/C Hutchings joined the volunteer program at Douglas County Fire District #2 in 1986. During that same period he enrolled in the paramedic program at UCC.

He was originally hired as a full time firefighter at Douglas County Fire District No. 2 in July of 1991. Barry moved onto the position of Fire Chief at two different organizations before coming back to Fire District No. 2 in June of 2008. He is a current member of the Technical Rescue Team. Holds an AAS degree in General Studies with a minor in EMT from Umpqua Community College. Received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management from Northwest Christian College in Eugene Oregon.

Professional philosophy. B/C Hutchings believes that our customers trust us to provide them with the highest quality of service achievable. The Fire Service has an awesome responsibility to ensure that we provide the most benefit possible with the resources that have been made available to us by the public.

 


B/C Johnson started his fire service career as a Boy Scout Explorer with the City of Sutherlin Fire Department in 1981. After graduating high school he attended Chemeketa Community College in Salem Oregon. He was hired as a Firefighter / EMT by Douglas County Fire District No. 2 in October of 1984.

Roger has held several positions in the District including; Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain and now Battalion Chief. He has worked on several committees and assignments including the Safety Committee, Hazardous Materials Response Team, and Public Information Officer.

Roger is active in his community, and has held several elected and appointed positions with local governments including; the Douglas County Planning Advisory Committee, the Sutherlin School District Budget Committee, and Board of Director of the Sutherlin Water Control District.

Roger has continued his professional development by becoming a Paramedic, a Hazardous Materials Technician, a Fire Inspector, and completing two college degrees. He graduated with an AAS degree from Chemeketa Community College in Fire Science. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Service Administration from Eastern Oregon University.


hylandB/C Hyland began his fire service career as a volunteer/sleeper with Douglas County Fire District No. 2 in 1977. At the same time he enrolled at Umpqua Community College.
In January 1979 he was hired as a Firefighter/Emt and continued his education through UCC. He has held several positions in the District including; Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain and now Battalion Chief. He has worked on several committees and assignments including the Equipment Purchasing Committee, Hazardous Materials Response Team, Radio Communications, new hire testing and promotional testing.

Dave has been an adjunct Fire Science instructor at Umpqua Community College over the last 15 years, and coaches the Sutherlin High School Varsity Softball team for the last 7 years.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Service Administration from Eastern Oregon University, Associate Degree in Fire Science from Umpqua Community College and completed his Fire Service Administrators Institutes offered by Eastern and Western Oregon Universities.
